Chirag Shah, JD | Managing Director

Chirag has over 20 years of IP expertise across legal, research and governmental organizations.  A former USPTO Examiner, NIH research scientist and member in the patent prosecution & IP transactions team at Fox Rothschild, Chirag brings intellectual and practical expertise. Chirag holds a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  He obtained dual BSc degrees in physiology, chemistry, and a BA in philosophy, and an MSc in Biotechnology from the Johns Hopkins University with highest honors.  Chirag is a Fulbright Scholar and Professor at The University of Illinois and Washington University (St. Louis) College of Law.

Joe is a veteran patent strategy consultant and industry expert.  Prior to joining PatentVantage, he managed engagements and conducted numerous consultative projects during his tenure at IP Vision.   Joe is a Lecturer at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he worked with entrepreneurial engineering students and scientists.    Joe holds B.A. in Economics from Baylor University, with a MS in Computer Science from Boston University.


Jay Kesan, J.D., Ph.D. | Litigation & Transactional 


Dr. Kesan is the Director of the Program in Intellectual Property & Technology Law at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Most recently, he was appointed and served as a Thomas Edison Scholar at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).   Dr. Kesan is a renown patent strategist and advisor to many of the world’s most innovative companies. He is a registered patent attorney and received a J.D. degree summa cum laude from Georgetown University, Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Richard is a trusted adviser to our C-suite executives at Fortune 100 firms and private equity executives worldwide on strategic issues relating to disruptive technologies.  He has advised clients on the development of corporate and business-unit growth strategies often through complex intellectual property and M&A strategy. Moreover, he has advised executives on the strategic options to address opportunities and mitigate risks associated with disruptive technologies and models. Additionally, he has advised senior investment professionals, including private equity and hedge funds, on investment thesis formulation, industry assessments, and target commercial due diligence. 



Richard holds a BA from Harvard University, an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and is a CPA.
